The first presenter this year is Captain Melanie Shafer. She will be in full dress uniform with ribbons etc.
Captain Shafer went into the military as a private, worked her way to supply sergeant, and applied for ROTC while working at Memphis State University.She is now a Captain commanding a unit in Afghanistan. She has been assigned to Iraq and is on her second tour in Afghanistan. She has a lot of experience that will be of interest to many students. She will focus her talk on how to build a career in the military.
